Lots and lots of food

HAPPY THANKSGIVING 2011!!!!

We started off at 7:00am. got the kids ready and headed to the gym. Mckaylee insisted on Mac N cheese for breakfast so we allowed :) Once we got to the gym I shut the door at the day care and the kids always come up to the half door after it closes and give me a kiss. Well Mckaylee tripped right before she got to the door and totally smacked her head into the door :( She instantly had a huge goose egg and bump on her head. She is a tough little girl and after I consoled her for like 15 minutes and we put on a movie. Tay and I did a cycle class which is nice on Thanksgiving...especially since I can’t run still. After the gym we came home and just hung out until noon so we could put the kids down earlier.

Thanksgiving dinner at Cregg and Crystals was our first stop at 2. It was so fun to be with everyone. Crystal made it such a beautiful setting. She set the kids their special table and bought coloring books and crayons. Stockton was honory at first and we didn’t quite know what to do with him but once Tay put him in time out he seemed to buck up. He just gets stuck on certain things that he wants and if you don’t give it to him he freaks out. He wanted my diet coke and whatever else so he was mad. Once his mood turned around everything was great. Mckaylee was a dream and ate a ton. Stockton filled up on whipped cream. His face was covered. I love just chatting with Paul and Lezlie, Grey and Erica, Bones and Paula, Cregg and Crystal, and Grandma jane and Hal. We ate a ton and had a good time for a few hours and then headed onto dinner number 2.

We headed to my moms. I saved some room but ended up eating too much at the my moms. It was a special night at my moms. We started off with an idea I got off of TV to roll up what you are grateful for in rolls and then guess what everyone put. We then had our number 2 dinner. In between dinner and dessert we all took 5 minutes to say what we are thankful for this last year. It was so neat to kind of get deeper with my family. I read this poem...

In the course of our busy days, how often do we focus on the minor annoyances and ignore the blessings that grace our lives? I often find myself worrying about tomorrow or stewing over yesterday, instead of living in the present and seeking evidence of God’s love for me. I wish you all a moment today when you can count your blessing and bask in His love for you.

Thank You, God for dirty dishes

For they mean we are well fed

Thank You, for mortgage payments and rent notices,

For they mean we have a roof over our heads.

Thank You for the seemingly endless pile of laundry,

For it means we are clothed and warm.

Thank You for scuff marks and crayon marks and smelly tennis shoes,

For they mean our children are healthy and active.

Thank You for loud TV and busy telephones,

For they mean our kids are safe at home,

Thank You for notes from school,

For they mean our children have teachers who care.

Thank You God for speeding tickets,

For they mean our police officers are vigilantly protecting us.

Thank You for chaotic Sunday dinners

For it means we are surrounded by many loved ones

Thank You for morning traffic jams,

For that means we have jobs to go to.

Thank You for doctor’s waiting rooms and deductibles and co-pays,

For they mean we have access to health care.

Thank You for screaming toddlers

For it means I was blessed with God’s precious angels in my life

Thank You God for his snoring

For it means he is safe beside me.

Thanks You for little disappointments,

For they mean You are teaching us patience.

Thank You God for ordinary days, when the only battles are fought over remote control, spray bottles, and toys, when the biggest accident is a spilled drink, when an illness can be relieved with a Kleenex and a cough drop, when the bloodshed can be contained with a Band-Aid, when the biggest disaster is a toddler’s mess, when a crisis is solved with a huge. Thank You for Your many graces in our everyday lives.

8 desserts later we ended the night. I think Thanksgiving could be one of my favorite holidays! hanging and eating with family...doesn't get any better.
