Bear Lake Weekend getaway

Short and sweet....we left on friday night after Taylor flew in from out of town, we picked him up from the airport (which Stockton and Mckaylee were so excited to see the aeroplanes) and headed up to Bear Lake.  We got in at like 10 and Nixon West was there so of course they didn't want to go to bed.  We went down with the Wests and the Andersons and had a great time.  The first night was a bit rough just because we didn't get to bed til 1am and kids were awake at 6:30am.  Good times :) We then were able to go see the boys complete their half marathon.  They did the Bear Lake 1/2 marathon! They did amazing!  Zac West got a 1:29 (which was 2nd overall), Tay got 1:30 (which was 3rd overall out of over 350 people) and Jake got a 1:35.  We almost didn't see them because we were a little late to get there.

We just played at the park and then headed home and the boys watched the kiddos while the girls went for a run.  The kids were disastrous at that point so we decided to go on a ride to get them to take a nap.  It was the best part of the vacation while they slept for 1 hour 45 minutes in the car and we sat in the church parking lot.  You know you are parent when you are hanging out in a church parking lot enjoying peace and quiet.  Once they woke up they were completely rejuvenated and so much happier! The rest of the day we just hung out at the houses, went four wheeling, BBQ'd, ate outside, saw the horses, etc and then of course we had to go into town to get the famous bear lake shakes :) Yummy!!! Can't go wrong with those shakes!  That night was much better for sleep so we had much happier kids the next day.  We had so much fun!  Thanks Andersons for the fun getaway!
Don't mind the chubby girl above...got to love prego pictures
cute highschool buddies and amazing little runners
best friends!  These kids really are so dang cute together.  Mckaylee and Nixon tend do more together and Stockton does more on his own but they really do love each other.
My sweet little boy loved this little motorized four wheeler and was on it for hours.  He wouldn't go on the real four wheeler on the first day because he was too scared.  I love this boy!
Then there is my daredevil Mckaylee who was totally up for the adventure.
All the mama's hanging out while the boys entertain the kids and barbecue :)
Second day my cute little boy decided to get on the four wheeler (as long as "daddy don't go fast")
Oh and they ate so much junk on the way home!  I was genuinely happy when Stockton was stuffing his face of twinkies because the child doesn't eat and anything that has fat and calories is ok in my book.  Vacations are never relaxing and we are usually so fed up after the first night but they end up being so worth in the end so we can let our kids experience new things.  they loved just sleeping in the same big beds as mom and dad and when we got home they were so sad that they had to go back to cribs.  Soon we will be getting rid of cribs...hopefully it will be a smooth transition!!! Lots of changes coming up!!!

It's good to hear that other peoples kids don't sleep in their own beds when they are away from home. I feel your pain :) Looks like you guys had a fun weekend!!
